Parents need to be leaders in the home. If they are insecure with that role or they don't know how to be leaders, then they need to accept advice or therapy to help them.
If a mother is a single parent, she should have a good male role model around to help her with the boys. Otherwise, she might raise them to be whimps and insecure about what a male is as well as how he should respond to women and his male role in society.
We have at least two generations of males who are mothered too much, so they don't learn how to take on the responsibilities of males in their own familes. When the male fails in his responsibilities, the female has to take over that role. We frequently see this situation in society today, don't we? Women are forced to take on the roles of mothers, fathers, and wage earners all at the same time because males no longer have a good influence in homes with single mothers.
Take note in the videos below of how children need to be taught to obey. There is good information in them to help you with your children and to help you be a better leader in the home.
For example, in the video with Cesar Millan of the Dog Wisperer, you learn about the importance of being aware of the energy you give out. As the animals do, children will pick up on that energy or insecurity and display the same energy. If you are excited, they will become excited. If you are fearful of offending them or triggering a temper tantrum, they will meet that energy and give you what you tell them to expect. This is all subconscious language that you have to be aware of if you want to get different results. If you cannot see it yourself, ask someone to help you or video tape the situation to evaluate yourself later.
The first video is Cesar Millan with Bill O'Reilly. Listen to Cesar explain the silent conversation that goes on with dogs and then apply that concept to your children, spouse, co-workers, your boss, and perhaps customers or clientele.
